Privacy

What we collect, why we collect it, who else ends up seeing it, and how to get rid of it. There is no advertising tracking on this site.

Who holds your information

Your information is held by SwansonX LLC, a limited liability company registered in Minnesota under file number 1663839400022 and based in Brainerd, Minnesota. It is a small company: in practice one person, not a team.

For anything about your information, including asking for a copy or asking us to delete it, email sean@swansonx.com. For a formal notice in writing, our registered address is 202 N Cedar Ave STE #1, Owatonna, MN 55060, United States. That is our registered agent rather than a public premises: the work is done from a home office in Brainerd, Minnesota, and there is nowhere to visit.

What we collect

Only what the service actually needs. There is no analytics package, no advertising pixel, and no third-party tracking cookie anywhere on this site.

• The address you ask us to check. Stored with the results so you can come back to the report and share it.
• Your email address, when you ask for the full diagnosis or send an enquiry. Used to send you the report and to reply.
• What you type into the enquiry form. Your name, phone number if you give one, your site address, and what you tell us about the problem.
• A one-way scrambled version of your IP address. Used only to stop one person running hundreds of diagnoses. We cannot turn it back into your IP address, and it is deleted after an hour.
• Payment records. What you bought and when. Card numbers never reach us.

What happens when you run a diagnosis

This one deserves spelling out, because it involves sending something to someone else. When you give us an address to check, we request that page the way any visitor would, and we also send the address to two Google services: PageSpeed Insights, which measures how fast the page loads, and Safe Browsing, which tells us whether the site has been flagged as unsafe.

That means Google receives the address you asked us to check. We send the address only, never your email address or anything else about you. Both are covered by Google’s own privacy policy.

Why we are allowed to hold it

• To provide the thing you asked for: the report, the reply, or the work.
• To meet our legal obligations, which mostly means keeping records of what was sold and to whom.
• To protect the service from abuse, which is the only reason we touch anything resembling an IP address.

We are based in Minnesota and sell to businesses in the United States. We do not target customers in the UK or EU, so this page is written to US expectations rather than to GDPR. If you are in the UK or EU and have used the service anyway, email us and we will handle your request to the same standard regardless.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. These are the companies that necessarily handle it in order to run the service:

• Convex stores the reports, enquiries and customer records.
• Vercel serves this website.
• Stripe takes payments and holds the card details we never see.
• Resend sends the emails, so it handles your email address and the message.
• Google receives the site address you ask us to check, as described above.

How long we keep it

• Diagnostic reports and the email attached to them: until you ask us to delete them.
• The scrambled IP used for rate limiting: one hour.
• Enquiries that never became work: 12 months, then deleted.
• Records of paid work: 7 years, which is what tax and accounting rules require.
• Backups taken before a job: 90 days after the job closes.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies, which is why you are not being asked to accept anything. Stripe sets its own cookies on the payment page it hosts, and that page is covered by Stripe’s privacy policy.

What you can ask us to do

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deleting a report also removes the shareable link to it. Email sean@swansonx.com and we will deal with it within 30 days.

Children

This is a service sold to businesses. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and we hold your email address, we will tell you directly rather than relying on you noticing.
